No matter where you’ve attended church before (even if it’s been many years since you’ve done so), we’re excited to introduce you to the people in our community. We’ve got something for all ages – from babies, to adults – every Sunday.
All of our Sunday School classes happen at 10 a.m.
Our children, Kindergarteners through 5th grade, attend dedicated classes before joining a Children’s Sermon during our 11 a.m. worship service. These sermons are designed to present biblical stories and lessons in a fun, interactive way that makes it easy for kids to understand.
Our Children’s Handbell Choir, which practices every Sunday after the sermon, provides an enriching and positive way for children, Kindergarten through 5th grade, to be a part of the church community in an even bigger way. Children learn to read music and develop musical skills as part of an ensemble. Learning to play handbells provides them with a program that harbors a sense of accomplishment and responsibility, builds confidence and teaches music, and provides new opportunities to make friends. The Handbell Choir puts on performances for special worship services throughout the year, and volunteers from this group also chime the hour at the beginning of each worship service.
Our Children’s Program uses the Godly Play approach to help our children explore their faith through story and play. Based on the Montessori approach to learning, this program helps them explore the stories of the Bible, and expand their knowledge of religious vocabulary and story with their friends in the community. This program includes topics like Baptism, Parables, Easter, Knowing Jesus, Pentecost, the Church, and the Prophets.
Babies and toddlers have a dedicated area in our Children’s Wing, where they can experience what our church teaches on a level they can understand and enjoy. Our nursery program is overseen by Teresa Ramos, who has been a teacher at First Presbyterian Preschool for 11 years and has an Associate degree in Child Development. Teresa oversees our nursery workers and develops all programs for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers here at First Presbyterian Church.
