At First Presbyterian Church, you’ll notice something. Our congregation looks different. In fact, we stand out among many of the other churches you’ll visit, because here, all are welcome. We invite everyone, all ages, races, cultures and sexualities, to congregate, support and encourage each other as we journey on life’s path together.
Join us every Sunday for services offered at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Our services take place in a large, traditional sanctuary, lined with pews and encompassed by stained glass windows under a high ceiling. It’s awe-inspiring, and often breathtaking, but no matter where you’ve worshipped before, or what that kind of worship looked like, our goal is to make you feel welcome and comfortable worshipping with us. We look forward to you being here.
Our early service is filled with upbeat, contemporary music led by our praise band. The 11 a.m. worship service also begins with contemporary music, but transitions into a blended traditional style with music from our choir and the organ. Each service is about an hour long, and features a diverse selection of music and prayer, a children’s message and an engaging sermon. After every service, the congregation is invited to enjoy fellowship, coffee and a few refreshments in the Robert Young Centre.
In addition to our large services, our 10 a.m. Sunday School classes provide a more in-depth way to study God’s Word and interact with our fellow believers. Adults can choose from book study groups or seminar-style classes, while children, ages Kindergarten through 5th grade attend classes in the children’s department.
Many community churches use our facilities, from Spanish-language services to the Metropolitan Community Church and several others. While not part of our First Presbyterian model, we are delighted to open our doors to many worship options, bringing more of the community into ours.
First Presbyterian Church is an inclusive community, and we embrace our members who are also part of the LGTBQ community here in El Paso. Several members of our leadership are part of the LGBTQ community, as are many members of our congregation, and we even perform same-sex weddings here in our church. We strongly believe that our congregation is the community, and are proud that every part of our community is reflected and included in our congregation.
If you’re looking for a church home, we’d love to introduce you to our community. Visit us today to learn how you can be a part of who we are.
